Program Benefits
The InsideOut™Advantage, from InsideOut Development, helps organizations promote a coaching culture where leaders are comfortable addressing even difficult performance issues, and contributors feel affirmed by the coaching process and invested in development plans. The InsideOut Advantage workshop offers a framework for planning and conducting coaching discussions that can help your managers significantly improve comfort and effectiveness in resolving performance concerns. As a result, employees are inspired to perform to their peak potential and embrace what your organization needs them to do.

After leaders and contributors experience the program, your organization will be better able to:

  • effectively apply new skills learned in any training program
  • create performance appraisals that are opportunities for real, measurable performance improvement
  • re-tool leadership development programs to reflect the new coaching paradigm
  • translate 360 assessments into concrete development plans
  • foster project teams that pull in the same direction
  • create higher value sales coaching calls
  • trickle down core competencies across employee populations
  • get your entire organizations behind corporate change initiatives

Program Description
During The InsideOut Advantage, participants learn how to:

  • confront performance issues in a way that lets people feel valued rather than put down
  • encourage people to be realistic about their current state of readiness and prospects for success
  • uncover the root causes of performance gaps without resorting to second guessing and faultfinding
  • brainstorm measures to improve contributor performance without proffering up uninvited advice or brandishing personal expertise
  • focus coaching discussions on critical behaviors that have the power to truly transform performance
  • ensure that performance improvement resolutions anticipate likely obstacles and are supported by specific action plans

Workshop participants begin by learning why putting pressure on others to perform is frequently counterproductive, and that layering on additional knowledge and information is more likely to result in stress than success. They discover that a key component to coaching consists of reducing "interference" - the attitude issues, mistaken priorities, lack of focus. and environmental distractions that take employees’ eyes off their goals. Then participants are introduced to the concept of "decision velocity" - working smarter vs. working harder. They perform a juggling exercise to test the power of next generation coaching skills. Participants also learn how to help others discover their “flow state” - the frame of mind where peak performance unconsciously occurs.

Next, participants learn the G.R.O.W. coaching process for guiding employees to achieve peak performance in virtually any situation, without triggering defensiveness or resistance. Participants put their new skills into practice by coaching each other in job-specific situations and participating in video simulations. Finally, participants learn how the G.R.O.W. process can be used in a team or group setting.

The workshop is supported by world-class learning methodology that incorporates:

  • video vignettes portraying best practices in realistic work settings
  • small group case examples and discussion
  • learning games and exercises
  • opportunities to apply learning to real job responsibilities and reporting relationships
  • take-away job aids for just-in-time application
  • blended eLearning for classroom learning preparation and reinforcement

Implementation/Customization
The InsideOut Advantage workshop may be implemented in a one- or two-day session. Content is tailored to your organization’s culture and business priorities. Organizations may also engage InsideOut to certify qualified staff members to deliver the workshop.
