Vital Learnings Leadership Essentials series helps front line supervisors and team leaders master the basic management, communication, and interpersonal skills they need to help team members succeed. In a 17-module series that includes five Leadership Plus topics, supervisors and team leaders increase their ability to manage today's diverse and challenging workforce.

Program Description
Leadership Essentials modules use realistic and positive video examples, workbook exercises, and role-plays to help participants build and practice skills. The series includes:
Fundamental Skills:
- Essential Skills of Leadership (maintain and enhance self-esteem, focus on behaviors, encourage team member participation)
- Essential Skills of Communication (create a climate of open communication; design clear, concise messages; manage nonverbal behaviors effectively; listen to communicate)
Interpersonal Skills:
- Effective Discipline (change behaviors without causing resentment)
- Developing Performance Goals & Standards (establish measurable, result-oriented, time-specific performance standards)
- Improving Work Habits (create and enforce codes of conduct)
- Coaching Job Skills (coach to close skill gaps)
- Delegating (learn when, to whom, and what to delegate)
- Providing Performance Feedback (create clear and credible evaluations)
- Managing Complaints (resolve simple complaints and address chronic grievances)
- Communicating Up (improve upward communication)
- Resolving Conflicts (clarify and correct conflicts before they escalate)
- Supporting Change (introduce change without creating defensiveness)

Implementation/Customization
Modules are 3.5 to 8-hour sessions available in classroom or Internet-based formats. They are appropriate for classroom groups of 10 to 24 participants, or unlimited online learners. Customization to your specific supervisory culture and goals is available.
