Program Benefits
Finally, a program that takes some of the load off managers and fully leverages the talent on their teams! Mentoring, from The Real Learning Company, is a learning and growth experience for both seasoned performers and promising talent. It provides professional development for mentees, and helps mentors hone their leadership and supervisory skills. Mentoring builds a culture of knowledge sharing and a process of capturing best practices from real-world stars. The one-day workshop is a fast-start for each of the mentoring pairs as they embark on their joint development path together. Mentoring helps each person in the mentoring relationship:
  • understand their own unique talents
  • increase alignment and engagement with their current assignment
  • find and stay on a personal mastery path for long-term professional and personal development
  • increase loyalty to their team and to their organization

Program Description
Prefaced by Web-based pre-work for both mentor and mentee, this program provides a fast start to a yearlong mentoring initiative. Mentoring pairs work at tables of six to eight, tapping into the full power of their collective knowledge and experience. The learning modules are:

Module One: Great Mentors and Mentees - Mentors and mentees assume opposite roles and identify what they want from a mentoring partner, and what it will take to do a great job as either a mentor or mentee.

Module Two: Understanding Each Other - Pairs learn each other’s unique nature and develop a plan for communicating and interacting most effectively.

Module Three: Key Skills Identification - Pairs work with a set of tools to assess current work skills, developmental opportunities, and areas of interest for their first 30 days together.

Module Four: Contract and Action Plan - Each pair plans the 12-month performance cycle by creating a contract (roles, responsibilities and agreements) and a 30-day action plan with measurable developmental areas, key activities, and agreement on personal commitments.

A series of guidebooks are available for leaders, taskforces, potential mentees, managers, and the program administrator. These guides help the leader set the proper stage, the taskforce successfully implement and track progress, and mentors and mentees make the best match possible. Mentoring also includes six structured follow-on field learning extensions and supporting Web tools—an all-inclusive package for initiating, implementing, and measuring your successful mentoring initiative.

Implementation/Customization
The one-day program is typically implemented for groups of 24 to 36. Materials are customized around organizational values and key mentor-mentee skills.
