Pepulator - The Negotiation Paradox
Get Your Group Fired Up About Negotiating

Program Benefits
Pepulator, from Accordence, is a high-impact, entertaining large group simulation that reveals participants' own negotiation strategies and tactics and those of their colleagues, competitors and clients. It is highly participative, informal, and stimulating. After participants complete Pepulator, they will have learned that:
  • Negotiation is a constant process in every working relationship, not an isolated formal event.
  • Every transaction, not just face-to-face meetings, is part of the negotiating process.
  • "Trust" means different things to different people.
  • There are no "zero sum" games.

Program Description
During Pepulator, participants are divided into small teams of 3-6 people to act as Boards of Directors of one of two companies in the "pepulator" manufacturing industry. They set prices for their products each month and calculate the profits earned by their own company and their competitor based on the relationship of the two companies' prices. At the end of the simulation, they participate in a large group debrief that highlights the learning points.

Pepulator improves participants' ability to:

  • act purposefully in a negotiation, rather than reactively
  • evaluate the importance of trust and relationship in a negotiation
  • articulate and test their assumptions
  • gain the negotiation outcome they want by taking calculated risks

Implementation/Customization
Pepulator is a 2.5-hour to 3.5-hour activity and can be run for groups from 24 to 400. It is ideally suited as a kick-off for larger corporate learning events or retreats.
