Help Your People Become “Change Resilient”
We’re all in the same boat, trying to hang on amid the whitewater of continual change while helping our people stay focused on achieving goals.
Where to find help? The interactive program Navigating Through Change, developed by Advantage alliance partner Pantelis Inc. and based on the work and book of Dr. Harry Woodward (management consultant and principal of Woodward Learning International) is the “river guide” to use.
“Today, people are saying, ‘Everything is so chaotic! Help me get more focused, be more resilient, move forward,’” says Woodward. “ Your role as a manager is to provide the guidance, coaching, and tools to help them do that. Managers should see themselves as ‘movement starters’ rather than ‘problem solvers.’”
“The Navigating Through Change book and program are particularly effective for managers who ask ‘what can I do to help my people?’” he adds. “Moreover, the secret sauce of change, without a doubt, is empathy. Many people see empathy as a soft skill, but it has a steel core running through it. Empathy is demonstrating your understanding of somebody else’s point of view. It’s helping people define their issues, instead of trying to solve their problems or ‘fix’ them.”

Available as a workshop for executives, managers, or performers, Navigating Through Change has been used by clients such as Amgen, Marriott, Oracle, and Chase Manhattan to prepare people for the impact of change and give them the knowledge and practical skills to move through it successfully.
