Talent Development Tuesday - A key business driver for 2024 (brain icon with a football strategy diagram)

A key business driver for 2024

“In business, what’s dangerous is not to evolve.
– Jeff Bezos

Training Industry Magazine just released their annual trends report for 2024, and we couldn’t agree more with their results. Front and center is a profound statement that we hope every L&D leader will celebrate:

“With more business leaders seeing a clear link between training and business success, L&D is ripe with opportunity to create value for the business.”

Not only that, L&D can lead the way toward meeting the increasing pressure on organizations to keep up, evolve, and innovate with the times.

According to the Training Industry research, which they compiled from surveys with more than 500 L&D professionals, L&D trends for 2024 will include retaining talent, understanding the impact and drawbacks of generative AI,  increasing employee engagement, upskilling, and reinvesting in instructor-led training.

In this post-pandemic world, more organizations are looking to bring back in-person, live-event training opportunities, which were fundamental to our business for nearly 30 years before COVID came along and forced the industry to pivot. While virtual events may typically be more cost-efficient and scalable, there is nothing like the magic of live, in-person, discovery-based learning experiences. We are seeing several of our clients bring them back with great success.

The 2024 trends report finds more organizations reporting they will be trying to strike a balance next year between virtual training and instructor-led, on-site learning.

More good news: The report indicates that we can expect an average 8 percent increase in L&D spending for 2024.
