Talent Development Tuesday - The seeds of innovation (lightbulb and seedling)

The seeds of innovation

“Instead of trying to come up with a vision and make innovation happen themselves, a leader of innovation creates a place –a context, an environment– where people are willing and able to do the hard work that innovative problem solving requires.
Linda Hill in her award-winning book, Collective Genius

During our flyover last week about the Collective Genius simulation, which teaches leaders how to nurture an environment of innovation in their organizations, a question came up about how we define innovation.

In a world where change seems to come at the speed of light, what does it take for someone to really lead innovation in their organization?

The answers from the team at Paradox Strategies, Facilitator Jim Perry, Managing Partner Cheryl Whaley, and Simulation Designer Richard Hodge (also an Advantage senior VP of instructional design), made it pretty clear: Innovation is for everyone.

Many of the seeds of innovation, some of the best ideas, typically come from the bottom-up, from those closest to the consumer, and essentially from anyone in the organization.
